New Zealand International Arts Festival 2010 - Once Upon A Deadline
Add to Cart DownloadOn Monday 8 March six playwrights and one scriptwriter raced around Wellington in search of a story, armed with a laptop, wireless internet, and a minder to make sure they stick to the rules and keep to the clock. At the start of the day, each writer was given a route to follow and spent one hour at each location, including a turn in the writer's cage. When time's up, every writer metwith an editor to help them polish up their 1,200 word story, and then they were off to the Wellington Town Hall for the Read-Off, and to decide the winner...The 2010 marathon saw the return of David Geary, the 2008 champion back to defend his title. Other contenders included Pip Hall, the 2009 Bruce Mason Playwriting Award-winner; Eli Kent, the writer behind the 2009 Best Theatre win in the NZ Fringe Festival; internationally acclaimed playwright Dianna Fuemana; Spooks scriptwriter Neil Cross; and emerging playwright Lucy O'Brien.
